The austerity of the chapel is not cold or nihilistic, but emerges from the use of familiar shapes and natural materials. These materials represent the natural elements and bear signs of growth, life, and sometimes timelessness. Extensive use is made of bamboo wood, but stone, metal, and water are also employed.
